How Breaking Bones At The Skatepark Made Me Better At System Tuning
Aug 08, 2023I was at the skatepark the other day and thinking about system tuning…
You know, like you do.
I reminisced about Eisenberg’s Skatepark, one of my favorite and most frequented venues of my youth. Almost 20 years ago I managed to fall from 12 feet in the air and land on my wrist.
A quick trip to the hospital brought me to the X-Ray Lab where the Radiographer prepared to capture images of my limp limb. She’d then give these images to the Radiologist to interpret them.
You know what? We do BOTH of those jobs when we’re tuning a system! We’re capturing data as well as interpreting and making decisions with those data. If our Radiographer self screws up and gets bad data, then our Radiologist self stands no chance to make good decisions.
Get where I’m going?
Today I’d love to share with you four ways we can improve as Radiographers and make sure we’re capturing high quality data in an efficient manner.
We’ll cover:
- How timing is everything when it comes to coherency
- How data has gain structure too!
- Why transfer functions have more to offer than single channel measurements
