How to Read Heat Maps In Sound System Prediction Software (Don’t Be Fooled)

Apr 23, 2024

Heat Maps give us invaluable data in our system designs - if you know how to read them.

Red means loud, blue means soft. Easy right? Not so fast!

It’s easier than you think to either fool yourself, or be fooled by an integrator, on what the data is actually showing you. I’m assuming Hanlon’s Razor here (Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by ignorance), so want to help inform both designers and clients how to both generate and interpret useful data when it comes to heat maps.

We’ll cover:

  • Why making everything “the same color” isn’t the end all be all
  • What key parameters help you make decisions the fastest
  • How to use JBL’s Venue Synthesis to quickly gather this data
